11th Annual Nichols School Film and Video Festival
I am happy to announce an open call for work for The Tenth Annual Nichols School Film Festival this spring. The film festival will be a forum for Western New York high school students to showcase the best of their motion picture works. It will also be an opportunity for students from all area schools to get a look at the work that is being made at other schools, to meet their peers and to see their own work in a broader context. I also hope this event will provide and opportunity for faculty from these schools to develop a dialogue. This year like last year the festival has been invited to screen at the Albright Knox Art Gallery , the screening will take place on“Gusto” Friday night in May.
All interested schools are welcome to send a Mini DV tape or a DVD of a single work or compilation of works that total around 15 minutes or less. High-school students may also send work unaffiliated with their respective schools. Mail or drop off a tapes or disks cued to the beginning of the work, accompanied by a list of the works by title, student name, total running time, and a description of the project or work. Also include on the sheet your name, the name of your school, grade, and contact information. The deadline for entries is April 16th 2011 . We encourage you to send your entry in early! It will give use more time to consider your work.
We look forward to seeing your work,
The Flick fest curatorial group
